TransCanada will soon be contacting landowners along the route of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. They will attempt to obtain perpetual easements for the route. The landowner signing a perpetual easement will forever be subject to the terms of the lease. All future generations and landowners will be bound by these terms.

Address any concerns you might have about the pipeline before signing an easement and have it in writing. Once you’ve signed there’s very little an attorney can do for you.

TransCanada has yet to receive all their required permits and construction isn’t slated to begin until 2011. You have plenty of time to study the issues. Don’t let yourself be rushed into signing.
