Central States Fair Quarter Horse Show

The 2012 theme for the Central States Fair (CSF) was 'Magic In The Air' – befitting to the delightful events and competitions that this year's fair-goers enjoyed. Kicking off the 10-day event was the AQHA Quarter Horse Show Circuit held Aug. 17-19, 2012, at the Bray Arena and Jim Kjerstad Indoor Arena on the Central States Fairgrounds, Rapid City, SD.

Horsemen and women from several surrounding states enjoyed the great weather that then held for the entire week of the CSF. The CSF Quarter Horse Show shared the arenas with entries for the Center Of The Nation Quarter Horse Futurity and the Ranchers Quarter Horse Breeders Association Futurity. Classes were held concurrently over the last two days with three judges involved in the placings for those classes.

Judging the 2012 CSF circuit with close to 1,000 entries were Mark Guynn, Berthod, CO; Marc and Aby Cosenza, Scottsdale, AZ; and Dolly Chayer, Sperry, OK.

Ericka Furnish, Spearfish, SD, and Chelsie McAllister, Glasgow, MT, captured seven Circuit Championships each at the CSF Quarter Horse Show Circuit. Furnish and her gelding Petitte Finesse went away with the Circuit Championship in Novice Youth Showmanship; Youth Showmanship 14-18; Youth Western Pleasure 14-18; Senior Western Pleasure; Novice Youth Western Horsemanship; Youth Western Horsemanship 14-18; and Youth Trail.

Chelsie McAllister, a veterinarian from Glasgow, MT, riding KCS Rockin Rudy captured the following championship titles: Novice Amateur Showmanship; Amateur Showmanship; Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle; Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle; Amateur Hunter Under Saddle; Novice Amateur Western Pleasure; and Amateur Western Pleasure.
