We're still not calving here as of this writing. The cows are getting closer but have sure overshot their April 10 starting date! I'm not minding a bit. They can stay on their winter pasture and graze a little longer this way. I think I know what caused the holdup though. I had all the calf tags done in advance and they were all ready to go. I usually don't do them until at least one calf is on the ground. That explains it for sure.

I see that the National Junior High School Finals will be moving to Huron, S.D. for the 2017-18 seasons. That's great news! There's a really good facility there that can handle the large entry of a finals. The National High School Finals have been held there in the past and Huron did a great job.

I read this morning that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering vaccinating prairie dogs in two locations in northeastern Montana against sylvatic plague. They want to grow the prairie dog population in order to support the endangered black footed ferret which preys on the prairie rodents. There's a comment period wherein we can express our opinion of the proposal. I don't think they want to hear my opinion very bad. I've been trying to help though! I've been "vaccinating" prairie dogs with .223 rounds for years now!

Well, that's my circle for the week. Send me your news items and I'll share them here!
