Christensen familes and NLC ranch again combined forces to hold their annual sale at the ranch near Wessington. The weather was beautiful, giving cattlemen and women the chance to look over these Simmental and predominatly Sim Angus bulls closely. John Christensen was one of the first people to use Simmentals and has built an outsanding cowherd with help from his with daughter and son in law Rick and Melanie.
These cattle are medium in frame. They are not overfed but have muscle, length, good feet and are large testicled. The large active crowd proved that the bulls are in demand.
Lot 3, $14,000 – to Scott Bradac, North Dakota. This half-blood SimAngus is sired by WC United, out of a Titan Female. The bull posted these EPDs – BW 89, WW 823, YW 1,385. This guy was the number one weaning weight, number five yearling weight bull of the calf crop.
Lot 8, $13,500 to Dan Leo, Nebraska. Another United son, out of a Right on daughter, this half blood bull started out at 89 pounds, weaned off at 675 pounds and posted a 1,384 pound yearling weight. He was homozygous black.
Lot 1, $13,000 to Kaelberer Ranch, N.D., and SHS Simmentals, N.D. This Leachman Right Time son was an ET out of Upgrade's mother he had EPDs of BW .8 birth, WW 63.8 weaning, YW 101.
Lot 102, $12,000 to Chris Heim, South Dakota. Out of Canadian herdsire Tess Black 144Y and a T N T Tanker daughter, this homozygous polled purebred Simmental weaned off at 650 pounds and had a 1,316 pound yearling weight to ratio 106.

Lot 304 – $4,700, Chad Thompson, South Dakota. She's a three-quarter blood United daughter. The black and polled heifer came in with a balanced set of EPDs combined with 132 API.
