2010 NILE ProRodeo moves to Expo Center

Within hours after the devastating tornado that caused the Metra Arena to be unusable for an indefinite period of time, NILE staff began working on plans for reorganizing the NILE Stock Show, ProRodeo, & Western Expo. This year will mark the 36th consecutive time that the NILE has held a ProRodeo during the fall show and it has grown into one of the region’s most prestigious rodeos. Plans have been confirmed to move the rodeo into the Expo Center at MetraPark with seating for around 4,000.

“The changes that we already had in place, combined with bringing the rodeo into a smaller venue will truly make it a spectacular event” said NILE General Manager, Justin Mills. “The physical size of the arena will be the same as before, however every seat in the house has the potential of getting a little dirt on you and I think people will really enjoy how close they are to the action.”

This year the NILE ProRodeo will feature four performances starting each night at 7 p.m., running Wednesday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 16. The NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals have been moved to Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and will feature ten ranch teams that have qualified at rodeos across the region.

Besides the adaptations that have to be made due to the tornado, the NILE had already instituted some of the most exciting changes in years for both fans and contestants. In an effort to maintain and continue to expand the quality of the NILE ProRodeo, Brookman Rodeo (Sidney, MT) was selected as the primary contractor for 2010. In addition, three sub-contractors will be adding stock to the line-up, those being Smith ProRodeo (Athens, TX); Burch Rodeo (Gillette, WY); and Silverado Rodeo (Ennis, TX).

“We are pleased about what people will get to see in regards to the level of stock coming into the NILE this year,” said Rob Erickson, NILE President and chairman of the NILE Rodeo Committee. “Each night will feature an all-star lineup of NFR stock.”

• Brookman Rodeo was started by the late Marvin Brookman in the early 1950s. His legendary horses included sires like Alimony, Bar Fly, Iron Sides, Double Deck, Medicine Man and Rough Water. In the last several years, Brookman Rodeo has featured outstanding horses like Good Times, Bay Magic and Wild Thing and bulls like Banana Daiquiri and Dan the Man.
