2010 year-end marketing assistance loans
December 23, 2010
USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Montana State Executive Director Bruce Nelson reminds producers who want to obtain a Market Assistance Loan (MAL) before the end of the year that they should contact their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office as soon as possible. FSA offices need time to process the loan and prepare the loan documents. MALs are marketing tools available to producers to allow for more orderly marketing of commodities throughout the year.
MALs are available for the crops of wheat, corn, grain sorghum, barley, oats, soybeans, other oilseeds (including sunflower seed, rapeseed, canola, safflower, flaxseed, mustard seed, crambe and sesame seed), dry peas, lentils, small chickpeas, large chickpeas, graded wool, nongraded wool, mohair and honey.
For more information about MALs and other programs administered by FSA visit your local FSA office or http://www.fsa.usda.gov.
