2011 NILE Gold Buckle Weanling/Yearling Sale

The 2011 NILE Gold Buckle Weanling/Yearling Horse Sale was held on Oct. 21 with a large crowd on hand. There were horses consigned from many of the top breeders from Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas. All horses that sell through this sale are eligible for the NILE Futurities in 2012 and 2013. This year the futurities paid out approximately $10,000 which creates a great deal of interest in this sale.

The high-selling horse was a fancy black stallion consigned by Bar JT Quarter Horses of Volborg, MT. Sired by Floating Interest by Dash for Cash and out of a Doc O Dynamite/Doc O Lena mare, he sold to North Country Quarter Horses from Big Sandy, MT for $4,800.

The second high-selling individual was Lot 705 consigned by Askin Livestock of Belgrade, MT. This was also a black stallion with a lot of muscle and eye appeal. Sired by Midnight Corona and out of a Dash for Cash-bred mare, he sold to John Gee from Stanford, MT at $4,400.

The third high-selling consignment was an eye-catching yearling stallion consigned by Ward and Alice Fenton of Worden, MT, and selling to Dick & Linda Grosskopf of Huntley, MT, for $2,600. The yearling was sired by Zipanic by Simply a Spark and out of a Colonel Freckles-bred mare.

A very classy weanling filly, with a Smart Chic Olena/Shining Spark pedigree, was consigned by Brenda Flottmeyer of Piedmont, SD, and sold to Jackie Hansen of Rapid City, SD, for $2,500.
