2011 NILE Stock Show plays host to shows and sales

BILLINGS, MT – This year the NILE Stock Show will host nearly twenty-five livestock shows and sales throughout the week of NILE, schedule for Oct. 19-22 at MetraPark in Billings, MT. The event returns to full use of all the buildings at MetraPark, after a tornado damaged Rimrock Auto Arena in June 2010.

“We are extremely happy to be back into all the same buildings as before,” said Justin Mills, General Manager of the NILE. “In fact after last year, we decided to utilize some of the building differently this year in order to condense it into four days.” While no events have been taken out of this year’s NILE, the condensed schedule will allow attendees and exhibitors to participate in more events or activities during each of the days.

New this year is some exciting Web casting components to all livestock shows and sales (including the NILE Gold Buckle Horse Sales) through a partnership between the NILE and CattleInMotion.com. In the past, all shows and sales had been Web casted. This year the Web casts (at http://www.thenile.org) sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and presented by Little Horn State Bank will offer a higher level of production as well as “live bidding” for all sales.

This year 11 breeds will host shows at the NILE, with Shorthorn, Gelbvieh, Red Angus and Angus also holding premier sales. In addition, the NILE Jr. Fed Show will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19 starting with the swine show, then the steer show, followed by the sheep show. The Jr. Fed Sale will be on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. with a Buyer’s Reception at 3:30 in the Pine Coulee Bull Sales Arena (Expo Center).

The NILE Club Calf Show and Sale continues to expand with the addition of a futurity two years ago. With over $3,000 available in cash payout, all NILE Club Calf Steers are eligible to compete in the futurity. Additionally, the Club Calf Heifer Futurity also offers buyers a chance to return back to the NILE one year later and compete in the Heifer Futurity. The NILE Club Calf Show will be held in the Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Ford EcoBoost Arena with the Sale on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
