20X Extreme Showcase Rodeo at the Black Hills Stock Show

The Black Hills Stock Show, Rapid City, SD, was once again host to the 20X Extreme Showcase High School Rodeo. The top South Dakota contestants from the 2010 season were invited to compete and they came with their game on. Students had the opportunity to perform in the same arena as the professional rodeo contestants, along with working with top personnel and stock.

With announcer Justin McKee at the microphone, the rodeo was fast-paced and fun to watch. Sutton’s rough stock were tough, but top PRCA pickup men Brent Sutton and Mike Greenleaf kept the cowboys safe, along with bullfighters Loyd Ketchum, Josh Rivinius and Mike Matt. Dennis Halstead was the barrel man and kept the crowd entertained with his funny commentary and antics.

Midway through the rodeo the crowd was treated to a performance by the Preifert Hitch of six black Percherons in a roman riding act executed by the talented Jason Goodman. His skill and athleticism were tested by the sheer size and speed of the horses and the performance was flawless.

Contestants came to Rapid City to win a buckle and title, and as such they worked hard and performed their best. Times in some of the timed events rivaled those of the PRCA hands competing at the Civic Center. There was a good turnout in the stands and overall it was an exciting and enjoyable event for all.
