It’s about power. What is going down in Nevada, now, is similar to what happened to hog farmers twenty years ago. To clean stream run-off, regulators required hog producers to build sewage treatment plants. Only producers owned by politically connected investors had the money to build these facilities; family farmers took on government backed mortgages or went out of business. Ten years ago, the same happened with dairy and cattle farmers. Now, regulators are forcing ranchers off public lands and out of business. These regulations will not “Save the Environment”; they will make us serfs. If we are to remain property owners and free people, not dependent on and controlled by government, we must decentralize government power.
