BV Ranch & RLV Gelbvieh ‘Generations at Work’ Bull Sale

Doug Hogan

Richard Vavra with customer Tom Cooper of Belle Fourche, SD, going over the catalog and viewing bulls.

RLV Gelbvieh is owned and operated by Richard and Linda Vavra and family, and BV Ranch is owned and operated by Brent and Eve Vavra and family. Together they held their annual bull sale at Belle Fourche Livestock on a beautiful and much welcomed day in March. This family business spent a great deal of time culling cows and only offering the best set of bulls for their customers this year. The bulls were very uniform, and like always – in great working condition. They base their business on what cattle men and women want in good producing cattle. The offering consisted of bulls that were deep, long, had good muscle and superb dispositions. Bulls sold to surrounding states this year with many repeat and new customers.

The top-selling bull was RLV39X, a 4/10/10 son of Dart GR48T Bonus, that sold for $3,900 to a repeat buyer from Cody, NE.

The second high seller was RLV26X, a 3/31/10 son of Dart GR48T Bonus, that sold to a repeat buyer from Newell, SD for $3,750.

Third high seller was BCV025X, a 2/23/10 son of PRS Strands Black 86S, that sold for $3,200 to a repeat buyer from Union Center, SD.

RLV36X, a 4/5/10 son of Dart GR48T Bonus, brought $3,100 finding a new home with a buyer from Sturgis, SD.

A Montana first-time buyer took home BCV005X, a 2/4/10 son of RLV Top Magic 7T, for $3,000.
