Community college rodeo: Western men and Dawson women win at Glendive

The men’s team from the University of Montana Western captured the team title during the Dawson Community College rodeo in Glendive, MT, held April 22-24, while the hometown team corralled the women’s title.

When the points were tallied, coach Ole Else’s Western men collected 1,125 points and the Dawson Community College women posted 300 points to obtain the victory for coach Rod Paschke.

Kody Lahaye of Western won the coveted All-Around title at the Dawson rodeo and the women’s All-Around title went to University of Montana standout cowgirl Jessica Picchietti.

Western men took the top two spots in the team roping header and heeler events. Kody Lahaye won the heading with a total score of 15.1 and Colt Gardner won the heeling with an equal time.

Miles Community College cowboys continued to dominate the saddle bronc riding with Dillon Schroth winning with 135 points. Other Miles men captured the third, fourth and fifth place slots for coach Wallace Badgett. Brendon Lemmon won the bareback riding with 144 points for Miles Community College.

The battle continues May 6-8 at the University of Montana rodeo to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo which is scheduled for June 12-18 in Casper, WY.
