David Specht to speak on generational transition across Nebraska

BLAIR, NE – The Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition (NGLC) and UNL Extension are hosting UNL Family Business Programs Coordinator David Specht, on a four-day traveling road show across Nebraska. Specht is a lecturer in Family Business Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a writer and speaker on the topics surrounding the unique complexities of family-owned businesses. His work was recently featured in Farm Journal, Nebraska Farmer Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, Family Business Magazine and The New York Times. Over the past year Specht’s work has appeared in publications in Brazil, Spain, Mexico and Finland. Specht has gained international attention for his creation of The Family Business Continuity Audit.

Specht will partner with Columbus, NE based estate planning attorneys Jim and Tom Fehringer to present “Family Business Report Card: 3 Cs, 2 Ds and an F” which will equip participants to:

• Discover how prepared your business is for transition

• Leverage current tax legislation to accomplish business transition goals

• Gain clarity on how prepared your family is for a business transition

• Identify the generational gaps in perception

• 5-9 p.m. (MDT) – Quality Inn, Ogallala, NE. Contact Doug Anderson, UNL Extension Office in Keith Co., 308-284-6051.

Cost is $10, which covers the cost of the meal. Those interested must preregister by Dec. 9 to reserve a meal by calling the UNL Extension office indicated. Registrations will be taken until full.
