Fritz Charolais Complete Dispersal sale

Scott Dirk

Fritz Charolais, Jim and Dena, along with sons, Jake and Jack, held the Fritz Charolais Complete Dispersal sale at Public Auction Yards, Billings, MT on Sept. 28, 2010. With an ever expanding cowherd and their farming operation taking up more and more time, the Fritz family decided to disperse the purebred Charolais herd rather than purchase more grassland.

The first Charolais bulls were introduced on the Fritz Ranch for use in their crossbreeding program. They loved the results of the crossbreeding so much that in 1993 they purchased some registered Charolais females and started a purebred operation. The first few years the bulls were sold off the ranch by private treaty and through the Mussard Bull Development Center in Montana. At Mussards’ the Fritz Bulls were recognized several years as having the top Average Daily Gain and Weight per Day of Age bulls. Their first production sale was held in 2001.

Since the beginning their number one goal has been to raise calving ease bulls with length of body, disposition, easy do-ability and high fertility. Those traits combined with eye appeal and fleshing ability kept bull customers coming back year after year.

That was very evident on sale day, as many of Fritz’s past bull customers were in the seats to purchase their bulls for the next breeding season.

Top selling pairs: Lot 1 & 1A sold for $6,600. JDF Miss Gridmaker 415 ET a January 2005 daughter of M6 Grid Maker 104 P ET and was bred to Finks 2250 of 3575 D040 ET and sold to Ott Brothers, Laotto, IN for $5,000.
