Champion Gelbvieh Bull was Lot 21, JJEN Mr 904W, consigned by Jennifer Jensen of Belle Fourche, SD. He sold as the high selling Gelbvieh bull, going to Morell Livestock Co. of Union Center, SD for $4,000.

The 2010 Black Hills Stock Show Gelbvieh Show and Sale was held Thursday, Feb. 4 in Rapid City, SD. Eleven bulls and eleven heifers competed in this year’s show judged by Kevin Jenson of Courtland, KS.

Winning the title of Champion Gelbvieh Bull was Lot 21, JJEN Mr 904W, consigned by Jennifer Jensen of Belle Fourche, SD. This Balancer bull born 3/4/09 is the son of WR Mr Red Dawg 5335 and had a 92 pound birth weight. He sold as the high selling bull, going to Morell Livestock Co. of Union Center, SD for $4,000.

Reserve Champion Bull went to Lot 30, BVLK U11, consigned by Volek Ranch of Highmore, SD. This Balancer bull born 4/3/08 is another son of WR Mr Red Dawg 5335. He sold to Byron Woodruff of Wessington, SD for $3,000.

Taking the honor of Champion Gelbvieh Heifer was Lot 6, PLA Miss Pablo 948W, consigned by Plateau Gelbvieh of Peetz, CO. This heifer is a 1/22/09 daughter of EGL Pablo R014 ET and sold as the high selling Gelbvieh female for $3,600 to Emma Cowen of Ft. Pierre, SD.

The Reserve Champion Gelbvieh Heifer went to Lot 14, GDX Miss 807U, consigned by Piedmont Valley Gelbvieh/Amanda Duxburry of Piedmont, SD. This bred heifer born 2/26/08 is the daughter of Hyek Black Impact 3960N and sold to as the second high selling Gelbvieh heifer to Jeff Wuestewald of Wolsey, SD for $3,400.

This year’s Gelbvieh sale had 11 bulls averaging $2,954.55 and 11 heifers averaging $1,963.64. Last year’s Gelbvieh sale saw nine bulls average $3,200. Seven heifers averaged $3,892.
