Gibbs/Stortz "Performance on the Prairie" Annual Sale

Doug Hogan

Glendive, MT

Gibbs Angus Ranch, owned and operated by Tim and Laurie Gibbs and family, and Stortz Angus Ranch, owned and operated by Ted and Tarena Stortz and family, held their annual bull sale on Feb. 9 at Glendive Livestock Exchange. It’s becoming a sure bet when Gibbs and Stortz have their annual sale, there will be blizzard conditions or temperatures ranging to the minus 30 below like they did this year. But despite the winter conditions, you can tell the Gibbs and Stortz bulls were prepared for it as they were in excellent working condition and had been sorted to fit every commercial breeders program.

Gibbs and Stortz spend a great deal of time selecting the right sires to meet the everyday cow man and woman. They use no creep feed and no supplementation to their cows. They want the everyday ranchers to see what their calves do on their mother’s milk. With a large crowd on hand braving the elements, there were numerous repeat buyers and several new customers that took advantage of the discount offered if taking the bulls home on sale day.
