H. Trevor Anderson

Harold Trevor Anderson, 63, of Aberdeen, SD, died Monday, April 18, at his home surrounded by his family.

Trevor was born on Nov. 6, 1947 at Breckenridge, MN to Harold and Doris (Westby) Anderson. He grew up in Rosholt, SD, where he attended country school through 7th grade and graduated from Rosholt High School. Trevor worked on the family farm and was active in 4H activities. He earned an Associate Degree in Agricultural Science from SDSU.

On Aug. 2, 1968 he married Linda Shoemaker at Wolsey, SD, and had a daughter, Melissa (Johnson).

On May 7, 1983 he married Shelia Hill at Castle Rock, CO. Trevor and Shelia had a daughter, Lacey, and a son, Levi. They lived in Colorado and Texas before returning to Aberdeen in 1990.

Trevor remained active as a leader in 4H, through rodeos, horseshows and teaching his children and grandchildren. He shared his love of horses with others by showing and training horses, announcing horse shows, team penning and rodeos.

A rancher at heart, Trevor also became an auctioneer, a brand inspector, and owned Anderson Saddlery, where he sold, repaired and built saddles and tack, and did custom leatherwork. Trevor always enjoyed working with his hands and visiting with the customers.

Trevor especially enjoyed spending time with his family, having cookouts, bonfires and playing with his grandchildren. He could usually be found humming or singing an old country song while working around his shop and farm. He liked to find a shady spot under a tree to rest after a day’s work.

Grateful for having shared Trevor’s life are his wife, Shelia Anderson, Aberdeen; children, Melissa (Sean) Johnson of Aberdeen, Lacey Anderson (Tim Mehlhaff) of Aberdeen, Levi Anderson (Samantha Drobny) of Mansfield, SD; grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Erin Johnson, Keeley Beck; mother, Doris Anderson of Rosholt, SD; brothers, Trent (Teresa) Anderson of New Brighton, MN, Todd Anderson of Wasilla, AK, Leon (Jill) Anderson of Rosholt, SD, Brian (Joan) Anderson of Rosholt, SD; sister, Teresa Anderson of Spearfish, SD, and 14 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Fritjof Anderson.
