The 2010 Black Hills Stock Show Hereford Show and Sale was held on Feb. 3 in Rapid City, SD. The show was judged by Kevin Jenson of Courtland, KS.

Forty bulls were exhibited in the show and coming away with the title of Champion Hereford Bull was Lot 30, Vin-Mar About Time 913, consigned by Vin-Mar Cattle Co. of Gordon, NE. This bull is a 2/2/09 son of CRR About Time 743. He later sold in the sale for $4,500 to Ken Hunter of Rushville, NE.

Reserve Champion Hereford Bull went to Lot 10, HPH 66S Powermax 73W, consigned by Hanson Polled Herefords of Conde, SD. This 3/28/09 son of NJW 131A Duster 66S ET was the highest selling Hereford bull in the sale, going for $6,000 to Grant Hirsche/Grant Hanson of High River, Alberta.

The Champion Hereford Female title went to Lot 7, WM Princess 805U, consigned by Muller/Wagner of Agar, SD. This bred heifer born 3/14/08 is the daughter of ECR Precision 6246 and sold as the high selling female, going to Patrick Slaney of Barneveld, WI for $3,200.

Reserve Champion Hereford Female went to Lot 1, Vin-Mar Miss Saga 909, a 4/17/09 daughter SR Saga 1137, consigned by Vin-Mar Cattle of Gordon, NE. She later sold for $2,500 to Ben Espenscheid of Tracer, ID.

The 2010 sale had 39 bulls selling for an average of $2,653.85. The 2009 sale had 35 bulls selling for an average of $3,097. On the heifer side, the 2010 sale had seven females sold for an average of $1,814. The 2009 sale had three heifers averaging $2,233.
