Harris wins Copper Spring Ranch American barrel race qualifier

Barclay Construction and Copper Spring Ranch presented the 2016 Montana Barrel Daze/American Qualifier, BBR Territorial Finals, Oct 22-23. With $36,500 in added money and incentives, it was a smashing success with beautiful weather. Paying out over $101,000 in cash, close to 700 runs by barrel racers from across the United States congregated at the beautiful Cottonwood Equestrian Center in Silesia, Montana.

American Legion Prairie Post #32 Terry, Montana, decorated the arena with their Amazing American Flags, and Copper Spring Ranch added red/white/blue flowers and bunting to set the stage for the exciting event. The Better Barrel Races (BBR) added a $10,000 5D members only sidepot and $10,000 in Select Stallions.

Winning the Saturday Open 5D was Callahan Crossley, Oregon, aboard Brownie Bi Bogie, 14.655 for $$1,044.



Amanda Harris, Spearfish, South Dakota, aboard Frenchmans Fire Fly, won the Saturday WPRA sidepot with 14.760 for $354.90.

The WPRA Permit race winner was Brooke Hirschy running a 15.26 riding Streaker for $204.



Lynn Kohr with a 15.05 riding Dashinwithafrenchman won the Senior sidepot.

Saturday’s Treasure State futurity sidepot winner was Jessica Routier, South Dakota, riding Fiery Miss West, 15.036 for $342.

Saturday Youth and BBR sidepot winner was Brooke Wilson riding RBR Bobcat, 14.748 for $237 and $576.

Sunday morning was a packed house for American Qualifier #9.

Sixty runners were vying for their chance at the $1,000,000 opportunity Feb. 19 at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.

First – Amanda Harris, bested them all, aboard Frenchmans Fire Fly, 14.646 winning $1,875 and punching her ticket to the Semi-Finals in Fort Worth.

Second – Past WNFR qualifier Cassidy Kruse took second place and actually qualified two horses – Dash Ta Tim, 14.826 for $1,500 was her second place ride.

Third and fourth – In a tie, Kelly Kennedy-Joseph, Colorado aboard Dashers Hot Panajet, and Kali Jo Parker, Idaho, this time aboard futurity standout My Royal Lydia rode for 14.853 seconds, earning $1,237.50,.

Fifth – Callahan Crossley, Oregon, aboard Brownie Bi Bogie, took fifth place 14.887 for $900.

Sixth – Katie Garthwaite, Oregon, aboard Shufire, 14.932 for $750 landed in sixth place.

Seventh Cassidy Kruse aboard JKR Assured Win, 14.963 earned herself another spot.

Eighth – Jana Griemsman, South Dakota, aboard Chase it with Brandy, 14.966.

Ninth – Luke Robinson, Colorado, riding French Tiggerman, 15.029 earned a ninth place slot.

Tenth – Shea Flanigan, Wyoming, riding Boston on Fire 15.036 was the tenth place rider.

In the Crying Hole, BryAnna Haluptzol, Minnesota, was awarded a $500 Gift Certificate by LaCasa Diamonds.

With the American Qualifiers rolling their times, Amanda Harris won an additional $1,032 for first in the Open 5D, first BBR sidepot for $559 and WPRA for $364 for a weekend total of $5,414 for the South Dakota cowgirl.

The permit winner was Kelsey Robinson aboard Always The Way with a smoking time of 14.93 for $204.

The Senior sidepot was won by Tami Jo Martin, Minnesota, aboard ZS Smashed, 15.164 for $201.

Treasure State futurity winner was Kali Jo Parker, on My Royal Lydia, 14.853 for $333.

Sun youth winner was Paizley Guthrie, Idaho, riding Scary Dreams, 14.869 for $233.

Top 10 Qualifiers each received Horse Coolers donated by Classic Equine, vests from Plains Horizon Equine Insurance, MVP gift certificates for product and beanies from Barrel Daze.

Event All Access was on site for a live webcast on their site and Barrel Horse World also provided footage to RFD TV. Interval timing broke down the pattern into the various time segments. Olies Images photography was on hand for fantastic pictures.
