ICOW 5th annual convention scheduled for Wright, Nov. 11-12

Independent Cattlemen of Wyoming (ICOW) will be holding their fifth annual Convention on Nov. 11-12, 2011, at the Wright Hotel and Open Range Steak House, in Wright, WY. The theme of the two-day event is “Wilderness in the West” and will include workshops on policy by member committees, private property rights, and the environmental agenda.

Dr. Michael Coffman, Executive Director of Sovereignty International, is a world-wide speaker on the environmental agenda and has been on the forefront of the battle to stop the “Wildlands” project in the U.S. . His seminar will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

Jeff Hymas, John Birch Society, will also speak Friday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.



GB Oliver, Executive Vice President of The Paragon, is the featured speaker on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9:20 a.m., following the welcome by Wright Mayor Tim Albion at 9 a.m.

Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA will speak on the latest happenings on the national front with the GIPSA rules, trade agreements, and ADT (Animal Disease Traceability) rules and comments for the rules. ICOW is affiliated with R-CALF.



David Wright, of the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska (ICON) and a Cattlemen’s Beef Board member will speak about the beef checkoff program.

Bill Bensel, Agricultural Staff for Powder River Basin Resource Council, will speaking on current livestock, agricultural and energy issues which are of shared interest to ICOW members.

Dr. Eric Barlow, Wyoming Livestock Board member and a founding director for ICOW will speak on the ADT rules and import rules for Wyoming.

ICOW operates as a member-driven organization with policy direction controlled by the membership. The business meeting will be held at 3:20 p.m., after a one hour committee breakout workshop. It is open to all ICOW voting members. There will be a Silent Auction during the convention, which will conclude with a banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The public, as well as members of ICOW, are invited to listen to the speakers and enjoy the grand new facilities in Wright, WY.
