Laurie Sutherlin of Stevensville, MT, has been elected as the new secretary-treasurer of the Montana Red Angus Association. She succeeds Donna Laubach of Big Timber who has held the position for the past three years.

The board of directors met earlier in the month during the Northern International Livestock Exposition in Billings, MT.

Sutherlin, along with her husband, Bob, and their family, operate Sutherlin Farms in the Bitterroot Valley.

The diversified operation runs 350 registered Red Angus and 250 head of commercial cattle along with a bull development feedlot. In addition, the family also farms over 1,000 acres of wheat, barley, alfalfa and corn.

Association President Kay Klompien, of Manhattan, had praise for both the incoming and outgoing secretary-treasurers of the association.

“I am looking forward to working with Laurie and certainly want to thank Donna for all of her effort and for the time she put in,” she said.

She also said that her job is to get input from all members and follow their direction.

“I want to make it very well-known that I will push for whatever our members want to do,” Klompien said. “I am just here to represent all of our members,” she noted.
