Marcy Cattle Co. hosted a big crowd on a very nice day in western Nebraska for their annual bull sale. The Marcy cattle have long been known for their slogan, “quality Angus with meat and muscle.” I guess this is how they keep the same customers coming back year after year. Across the region I hear as many good comments about these cattle as any others that we sell.

The Marcy cattle are bred to be deep ribbed, easy fleshing, and highly fertile cow makers, with extraordinary growth in the feed lot.

The Marcy herd has produced many herd bulls over the years that have extended their genetics across the Angus breed. This year proved to be no different as the top selling bull this year, at $7,500, went to the good herd of Dan and Daryl Dartt from Wall, SD. He was Lot 11, Marcys 07 Frontpage 11-7, a son of Connealy Front Page 0228 and out of a daughter of Schurrtop Global. He was a 3-star calving ease bull with a 72 pound birth weight, a weaning weight of 694 pounds, and a sale day weight of 1,680 pounds. His EPDs were +0.6 BW, +47 WW, +19 Milk, and +83 YW. He had a REA of 14.6 sq. in. and an IMF of 5.20.

Dan Larington from Nebraska chose the Lot 38 yearling bull at $7,000. He was a long-sided, deep-bodied son of HA Image Maker 0415 and out of a Pathfinder daughter of Connealy Forefront that had a weaning weight ratio of 4/106. EPDs posted on Lot 38 included +2.3 BW, +55 WW, +31 Milk, and +92 YW. He had a 96 pound birth weight and weaned at 719 pounds, before attaining a yearling weight of 1,300 pounds.

Long time repeat buyer, the Kroeger Ranch from Nebraska, purchased Lot 47 at $6,500. He was a son of Connealy Freightliner, and out of a daughter of Leachman Right Time. He was a long, deep, 3-star calving ease bull with EPDs of +0.4 BW, +47 WW, +22 Milk, and +78 YW. He had an 80 pound birth weight, weaned at 749 pounds, and had a yearling weight of 1,227 pounds.

Lot 117 sold for $6,500 to Lonnie Fransen from Nebraska. He was a son of Baldridge Sledgehammer S621 and out of a daughter of Sitz Alliance 6595. With a birth weight of 103 pounds, he weaned at 816 pounds before posting a yearling weight of 1,459 pounds. His EPDs were +4.1 BW, +52 WW, +19 Milk, and +93 YW.

A very good sale for the Marcy family… and remember, the hospitality and food at the Marcy sale is like Thanksgiving in January.
