Scott Dirk

An open seat was a hot commodity at the McConnell Angus bull sale.

The Roger Mc Connell family hosted their 7th Annual Bull sale near Dix, NE on Feb. 2, 2010.

In an effort to make the sale more buyer friendly and less stressful on the sale offering, the sale was held at the ranch in their newly completed sale facility that also doubles as a shop, office and bunkhouse.

The standing room only crowd that came to evaluate and buy the bulls saw a great set of stout, thick made, range ready bulls that showed lots of thickness and natural muscling. The offering included spring yearling and fall yearling bulls that combined calving ease and performance in a very eye appealing package. The fall yearlings had been fed at Tie Siding, WY, elevation 7,600 feet, and were were then PAP tested to see which ones would be suitable for high elevation service. This proved to be a great added sale feature as those bulls were in very high demand on sale day.

Topping the sale was Lot 76, MA Final Choice 8036, an 8/08 bull sired by Final Answer and out of a Bando 5175 dam. This bull posted EPDs of BW +0.9, WW 53, Milk 26 and YW 96 – a very complete herd sire prospect with a PAP score of 38. He sold to Monaghan Farms of Colorado for $12,000.
