Montana Board of Horseracing to meet Dec. 2 in Helena

The Montana Board of Horseracing will meet Dec. 2 to discuss race dates for 2012 and introduce the Business Advisory Council, a new three-member council tasked with providing financial, budget and business strategy advice to the board.

The council, created by Governor Brian Schweitzer earlier in November, includes state Senator Cliff Larsen of Missoula, and Dore Schwinden and Christian Mackay, directors of the state departments of Commerce and Livestock.

The executive order creating the council, which is attached directly to the Governor’s Office, said that Montana has an interest “in the economic viability of the board (of racing) and the industry, which have been struggling financially to support race events in Montana.”

The board will meet at 10 a.m. at the Montana Lottery Building, 2525 North Montana Avenue, in Helena.
