Nebraska Forest Service: ‘Redcedar Rodeo’ Oct 21 demonstrates on-farm options for cedar trees
October 13, 2016
Cedar Point Biological Station in conjunction with the Nebraska Forest Service will host a workshop demonstrating on-farm uses for eastern redcedar trees.
The Redcedar Rodeo will focus on utilization options for property owners, ranchers and others looking to manage eastern redcedar on their properties. The event will include sawmill and post-peeler demonstrations, as well as end treatment options for posts.
"Management of eastern redcedar is a pressing issue statewide" said Heather Nobert, Forest Products Marketing Coordinator with the Nebraska Forest Service. "By demonstrating the uses for eastern redcedar once cut, we hope people will start to think differently about redcedar management."
When Nobert visited with Jon Garbisch, Associate Director of Cedar Point, they discussed how cedar has begun encroaching on most properties and people are searching for some options.
