Pederson’s Broken Heart Ranch 31st Annual Production Sale

Dan Piroutek

Gene Webb and Arron Webb of Eagle Butte, SD with auctioneer Lynn Weishaar (center).

The welcome mat was out at Pederson’s Broken Heart Ranch as friends, neighbors, and cattlemen from a wide area gathered at the ranch for their annual production sale. The snow was melting and the water was running on this beautiful, sunshiny day.

This area of north central South Dakota is well-known for its good commercial Red Angus cattle, and the Broken Heart herd has provided a lot of those good genetics over the years. This year there were several new faces in the crowd to compete and make their choices on this outstanding set of Red Angus bulls and heifers.

The sale started out very strong on the herd bull candidates, and this momentum held up until the end of the sale.
