Pine Creek Angus Ranch 19th Annual Production Sale

Dan Piroutek

Lyle Weiss with Jeanne and Dennis Bieber from Bowdle, SD, along with auctioneer Seth Weishaar of Belle Fourche.

A nice crowd gathered at Faith Livestock for the Pine Creek Angus Production Sale. The weather was bright and shiny, after a lot of snow and extreme cold in the area the previous few days.

Pine Creek is owned by Lyle and Miriam Weiss, and their herd has been built around the Sitz program and reflected by it in every way. This year the American Angus Association listed 25 of the Pine Creek cows as Pathfinders. Twenty-five of the bulls in the sale were out of first calf heifers.

The Pine Creek herd always sells some commercial heifers and the demand for them is great. This year the sale also saw strong demand on the top performance bulls as well as the calving ease bulls.

Lyle Weiss also had two of his herd sires on display: Sitz Valubull 9835 and Sitz New Design 9685. Forty-six of the bulls in the sale were sired by these two bulls, and the buyers liked the opportunity to choose and bid on these large sire groups.
