Retired butcher launches website to assist at the meat case

Amanda Nolz

The higher prices at the sale barn these days can be linked to the increase in beef demand that comes with the start of grilling season. Yet, despite the fact that Americans love to serve a steak to their family, they are still confused when they go to purchase that steak in the meat case. Consumers have a multitude of questions about meat based on cuts, preparation, nutritional value and recipes, and it can be overwhelming to make these choices when facing the long aisle of meat options.

For this reason, butchers in retail markets are critical to educating consumers, assisting them in their decisions and ultimately, working to increase demand. One retired butcher missed working with customers, and so Eric Turner decided to start a new project, a website to educate consumers about the meats they eat.
