The Schuler family hosted their 29th annual production sale at the ranch located southwest of Bridgeport, NE, on March 24. Schuler Red Angus is a total performance program backed by more than 30 years of selection for fertility, soundness and environmentally correct maternal traits. Their program includes 20 years of feedlot performance and carcass testing, and has contributed slaughter information and accuracy to 25 percent of the registered Red Angus bulls with high accuracy carcass traits. In addition to their registered Red Angus cattle, they developed the Schuler Red composite, which utilizes Red Angus, Simmental and Gelbvieh genetics to provide breed complements and heterosis without increasing cow size.

The Schuler family was honored by the Red Angus Association of America as the 2010 Pioneer Breeder. The Schulers were instrumental in the success of the association, with Darrell serving as its president of the board in 1986.

The top-selling Red Angus bull, Schuler Nebula 0039X, sold to Westphal Red Angus, Grass Range, MT for $8,000. This bull had high scans for both IMF and REA. His EPDs are CED 8, BW -1.4, WW 37, YW 75, Milk 20, Marbling 0.31 and REA 0.21.

Selling at $7,100 was Schuler Nebula 0026X to CJ Blew, Hutchinson, KS. This super thick, calving ease bull posted EPDs of CED 15 BW -5.7, WW 28, YW 60, Milk 22, Marbling 0.38 and REA 0.05.
