South Dakota Cattlemen’s policy development meeting Dec. 1-2 in Aberdeen

PIERRE, SD – The 62nd Annual South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) Convention and Tradeshow is set for Dec. 1-2, 2010 at the Ramkota Convention Center in Aberdeen, SD. Members from across the state are invited to attend and make their voice heard by participating in important meetings setting policy for the association.

One important topic to be addressed is the 2012 Farm Bill.

“With the elections bringing a new dynamic to Congress, it’s vitally important that cattlemen engage in setting the future course for Farm Bill programs,” said SDCA Executive Director Jodie Hickman. “With that in mind, we’ll start drafting our 2012 Farm Bill position paper at this year’s convention. I encourage all SDCA members to bring your suggestions for ways we make the Farm Bill work better for cattlemen.”

SDCA members will consider policy resolutions during the committee meetings on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Then, on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 2, members will finalize SDCA’s policy direction for 2011 during the Annual Membership Meeting. Members will also elect new association leaders at this meeting.
