The lights flashed over the green wood chips and red barn at the 87th Little International held on the campus of South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, SD on March 19-20, 2010. For the student-run staff and high school and collegiate competitors, the weekend was the culmination of weeks of hard work, and at the end of the weekend, winners were awarded to deserving students.

Jarrod Johnson, commissioner of the SD Office of School and Public Lands, and KWAT Farm Director Jody Heemstra served as emcees for the event, announcing winners as the judges selected their showmanship and fitting contest finalists. Little “I” staff member Amanda Fehrman shares some of her favorite memories and experiences from her experiences with this event. Fehrman was the winner of the Pete Pritchett Memorial Award, an honor given to the hardest working staff member in memory of Pete Pritchett, a former staff member who died in 1988.
