Some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the Cowboy State will try their luck in Torrington, WY, Nov. 19-20, at the Wyoming Rodeo Association finals.

The event will be held in the indoor arena at the Goshen County Fairgrounds, on Highway 26 on the west edge of Torrington. The first performance will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. The second performance will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 20, and the final Shoot-Out performance will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students, $20 for a family package and children under 12 are free.

This year’s event will feature the top competitors in nine events – bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, ladies breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, mixed team roping, team roping, ladies barrel racing and bull riding.

In the final round, top competitors will compete in a Shoot-Out competition for top money and prizes. Qualifiers will be the top two year-end winners, the first round winner, second round winner, and the top two in the average to make for six contestants in each event.

In addition, the public can become involved in the Shoot-Out competition by bidding on their favorite contestant during a calcutta, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. in front of the grandstands.

Winners in this year’s finals are eligible for many great prizes. In addition to money, all year-end winners in each event will receive Bob Berg buckles. Bob Berg buckles will also be awarded to the cowboy and cowgirl rookies of the year, the high dollar youth cowboy and cowgirl, and the all-around cowboy and cowgirl. Embroidered ball caps will be awarded to all finals qualifiers that didn’t make it to the Shoot-Out round. Jackets will be awarded to all the Shoot-Out qualifiers and leather coats will be given to the Shoot-Out winners. All of the jackets and coats will be embroidered with the WRA logo, event and sponsors. Year-end and finals awards will be presented at the conclusion of the Shoot-Out round.

Qualifiers for the WRA finals are the top 12 money earners for the 2010 rodeo season in each event, in addition to the top youth money earner if they haven’t already qualified in the top 12. All of those who have qualified to compete in the WRA Finals need to enter their event by Nov. 8 by e-mailing their entries to wyorodeo@aol.com.
