Wyoming: Sheep, goat raising program is Jan. 27 in Cody

A free program about raising sheep or goats on small acreages is 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the EOC room in the basement of the Park County Courthouse in Cody.

The program is sponsored by the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES).

“Have you thought about raising sheep or goats for wool, meat or milk? Do you want to know how to select animals?” asked Sandra Frost, UW CES educator in Park County. “This UW presentation is suitable for anyone thinking about raising sheep or goats and for 4-H livestock club members.”

Brenda Alexander, an assistant professor in the Department of Animal Science in the UW College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, will discuss breeds that would do well in Wyoming, facilities that are needed and about handling livestock. Fencing, nutrition and various diseases will be covered.
