A great set of performance horses was offered at the 2012 NILE Gold Buckle Sale with a selection of finished rope horses, solid ranch horses, barrel horses, and kids’ horses.
The top-selling horse was a fancy 8-year-old gelding consigned by the S Ranch of Pryor, MT. This individual was a do-it-all horse – finished rope horse, a winner at reining, top horse at ranch rodeos, wonderful ranch horse. He was trained and exhibited by KC Verhelst. Sired by the great Paddy’s Irish Whiskey and out of a Doc O Lena/Gay Bar King mare, this gelding interested many buyers. Very active bidding made him bring $18,000. He was sold to Mountain Valley Livestock of Douglas, WY.
Second high-selling horse was Lot 855 consigned by H Lazy H Quarter Horses of Worden, MT. This gelding was sired by Sparky Dun It going back to Shining Spark and out of a Mr. Rocket Leo mare. He had a great handle and exhibited by a youth who really showed the horse well. The buyer was Riley and Kaare Gaustad from Scobey, MT.
Lot 802 was a pretty red roan 4-year-old gelding consigned by C. T. Ripley of Huntley, MT, and selling to the U2 Ranch of Loring, MT for $8,000. This horse had a lot of color, handled well and was very gentle.
K.C. Verhelst consigned a black, grade gelding that was one of the sale attractions. He had been used in many ranch rodeos and could do anything a person would want to do on a horse. This fine gelding brought $8,000 and was purchased by Tara Stimpson of Lodge Grass, MT.
Another S Ranch consignment was purchased by Mountain Valley Ranch to go with the high-selling horse. Lot 877’s breeding was Peptoboonsmal and Playgun and sold for $8,000.
Hip #817 was a big, stout gelding consigned by Jesse Fleming. He was very well trained and had a lot of eye appeal. This gelding sold for $7,400 to Jake Stokke of Williston, ND.
Dave Mathias of Buffalo, WY consigned the top-selling young horse, a fancy grey gelding that was very gentle and showing a lot of handle. He sold for $4,100 to Vogel Land & Cattle of Ballantine, MT.
S Ranch was the top consignor with 3 head of fine geldings averaging $10,270.
The sale had a horse to fit any buyer’s needs which created active bidding throughout the entire sale.
