AQHA stallion deadlines approaching
Two important deadlines are fast approaching for stallion owners: American Quarter Horse Association stallion breeding reports and AQHA Incentive Fund stallion nomination forms must be postmarked on or before November 30.
Stallion Breeding Reports
According to the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations, the owner, authorized agent or lessee of every American Quarter Horse stallion must file a written report – known as the stallion breeding report – that shows the names, registration numbers and dates of breeding exposure for all registered mares during the year.
The stallion breeding report form must be filled out and mailed to the AQHA office on or before Nov. 30. Stallion owners also have the option of submitting the report online via AQHA Member Services.
Additionally, all stallions that bred mares in 2015 are required to have the five-panel disease test results on file, per Rule REG108.5 in the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations. Disease panel test kits can be ordered online at http://www.aqha.com/genetictesting.
To submit online reports, visit http://www.aqha.com/sbr, and for questions concerning stallion breeding reports, contact email@example.com. AQHA customer service representatives will be available until midnight on November 30 to answer SBR questions.
More than $75 million has been paid out since the inception of the AQHA Incentive Fund. With this program, paybacks are made annually to stallion and foal nominators, as well as to the owners of competing horses for the points the horses earn in the show pen.
Feedback from stallion owners, foal nominators and exhibitors has driven changes to the Incentive Fund. To make the program more beneficial to all competitors, effective Jan. 1, 2016, competition licenses will no longer be required and the point cap will be adjusted.
For a stallion’s offspring to be eligible, he must be enrolled by Nov. 30 prior to each breeding season at a fee based on the number of mares on his previous year’s breeding report. This annual enrollment makes his foals, resulting from that breeding year, eligible to be nominated into the program.
