Central States Fair elects new directors

The Central States Fair, Inc. Annual Meeting was held Monday, March 28 at the Central States Fair Fine Arts Building. The meeting is an opportunity to inform members of the accomplishments in the past year, understand the vision for the coming year, elect new members to the Board of Directors and honor individuals and businesses for their committed support to the Black Hills Stock Show® and the Central States Fair.
Central States Fair, Inc. is a nonprofit membership-driven organization which manages the Pennington County Fairgrounds and produces the Central States Fair and the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo®. In addition, Central States Fair, Inc. hosts over 240 different rental events throughout the year.
The members of Central States Fair, Inc elected three new Directors to their board to serve a four year term. The 12 member Central States Fair Board is comprised of community and agriculture leaders including a Pennington County Commission liaison, and a Rapid City Council liaison. Those elected at the Annual meeting were businessman, Dan Warren, livestock marketing and communications specialist, Lori Maude, and Pioneer Bank loan officer, John Kersteins. The new board members will replace the three members, Tif Robertson, Randall Christensen and Mutch Usera, who completed their four year term of service to the organization.
Ron Jeffries, General Manager, presented members with the year-in-review, highlighting the success of the Central States Fair, the Black Hills Stock Show®, and the capital improvements that were completed in 2015. The Central States Fair, Inc. has invested over $1.4 Million in capital improvements to the Pennington County Fairgrounds from 2011-2015. These improvements have ranged from fair entryways, building remodels, repairs to county buildings, and asphalt projects that are utilized by many community groups.
The event also recognized individuals and businesses for their continued support and dedication to the Central States Fair and Black Hills Stock Show® with the Hero, Merit, Blue Ribbon and Open Class Superintendent of the Year awards.
