NCTA Aggie Rodeo wins in Iowa
NCTA Aggie athletes from Curtis won calf roping and barrel racing at collegiate rodeos in Iowa over the weekend.
They also added a third place in steer wrestling, fifth in calf roping and eighth in team roping.
Cash Talamantez of Lisco, Nebr., won his first rodeo of the season with 10.6 second run in tie down calf roping at the rodeo hosted by Iowa Central Community College at Fort Dodge, Iowa.
He also competed in team roping and paired with Tom Percival of Oxford, Neb., for their 12.7 second run at eighth place at the Iowa State University rodeo at Ames, Iowa.
Lexus Kelsch of McLaughlin, S.D., won barrel racing at Fort Dodge with a run of 14.63 seconds, but had some bad luck when her horse slipped at Ames. However, she remains a leader in the Great Plains Region standings.
Brock Henry of Rushville, Neb., was third in steer wrestling in the Thursday-Friday contest at Fort Dodge with a run of 6.0 seconds.
To wrap things up Saturday and Sunday at Ames, Trevor Ginkens of Harrison, Neb., was fifth in calf roping at 15.1 seconds.
The fall season’s final rodeo action for the 9-member traveling team will be Oct. 21-22 at North Dakota State University, Fargo.
