Vilsack poised to defund horse processing inspectors
USDA Secretary, Tom Vilsack has introduced USDA’s 2014 Agriculture Appropriations request that, if passed, would serve as the final crushing blow to what remains of the U.S. horse industry.
Tom Vilsack is proposing to defund inspectors for U.S. horse processing facilities currently poised to open in several states in order to bring relief to the over population of unwanted horses across the country.
United Horsemen’s team is heading to Washington, D.C. next week where they will work to ensure that the USDA grants for inspection remains in the 2014 Agriculture Appropriations Bill, and that horse processing facilities ready to go are able to open to provide relief to horses suffering across America while reviving the horse industry nation-wide.
