It was time to shake the snow off the chore boots and head to Brooks Chalky Butte Angus Ranch Female Production Sale at the Bowman Auction Market in Bowman, North Dakota. The Brooks’ brought to town an entire age dispersal of some of their top producing cows, as well as all the April-calving bred heifers. With only 6 years of age on these bred cows it was an opportunity for any sort of cattlemen to jump on some high quality cattle. It’s impressive watching a supreme cowman part with some of his favorite females because his confidence is that his herd is improving, and that’s what we witnessed. They weren’t cull cows; these were cows that have raised some of the high dollar bulls in the Brooks Chalky Butte Angus Ranch bull sale. The day was as successful as any and here is how the top end shook out:

Lot 2, Gail 5453 BCBR, sold for $5,500 to Lawlar Farms of Watford City, North Dakota. Another 2240 daughter here bred to Bar J Payweight 501. She was born MArch 14, 2015, with EPDs of BW 1.2, WW 63, and YW 116.
Lawlar Farms of Watford City, North Dakota also purchased Lot 3, Princess 577 BCBR, for $5,000. This 2240 daughter is bred to Botts Powerhouse 4666. She was born Feb. 20, 2015, posting EPDs of BW 0.4, WW 60, and YW 105.
