Alecia and Matthew Tishmack, Coffin Butte Farm, New Leipzig, N.D., purchased several Hereford lots, including the second high selling Polled Hereford bull.

Bar JZ Ranches of Holabird, South Dakota hosted their 645th annual production sale. The Bar JZ program seeks to offer calving ease bulls that grow well and maintain superior carcass traits. All the sale bulls had been tested for the homozygous polled and homozygous black traits where applicable. Those bulls were well received. By raising Polled Hereford, Limousin, and Lim-Flex cattle, the Zilverbergs produce bulls and females to meet the needs of many crossbreeding systems.

Polled Hereford

Bar JZ Sleep On 738C, brought $10,500. A homozygous polled March, 2015, son of Hyalite On Target and out of Bar JZ Virginia 500Y, a 719T daughter, the bull went home with Fawcetts Elm Creek Ranch, Ree Heights, S.D. Three-quarter interest, full possession.

Bar JZ Lord Abbot 649C, brought $9,250. A homozygous polled March, 2015, son of Bar JZ Trust Fund 245A ET and out of Bar JZ Firestorm 494Y, a Crossfire daughter, this second-high seller was chosen by Coffin Butte Farm, New Leipzig, N.D. Three-quarter interest, full possession.

Bar JZ Laredo 636C ET sold for $7,000. A homozygous polled March, 2015, son of SHF Limelight W18 Y83 and out of Bar JZ Rebecca 954W, a Request daughter, sold to Orvil Kuhlmann & Sons, Inc, North Platte, Neb.

Bar JZ Foundation 628C stopped the biddding at $6,500. This homozygous polled March, 2015, son of Loewen Foundation 34X and out of Bar JZ Hope 991A, a Trust daughter, has a new home with Hillsview Farms, Eureka, S.D.

Bar JZ Optimus 640C also settled the bid-calling at $6,500. This homozygous polled March, 2015, son of GV CMR Ideal 424 X2096 and out of Bar JZ Hope 831A ET, a Trust daughter, found new owners in Nathan & Marvin Antonen, Arlington, S.D.

Polled Hereford Heifer Calves

For $3500, Bar JZ Anastasia 346C, topped the heiver calves. A March, 2015 daughter of Bar JZ Authority 635Y she found a new home with Rachel Parsons, Milesville, S.D.

Polled Hereford Bred Heifers

Bar JZ Glory 282B fetched $5,500. This April 2014 daughter of R Independence 4430 went home with Running Water Herefords, Marsland, Nebraska.

Limousin and LimFlex

High seller Bar JZ Alfalfa 682C commanded a final bid of $7,250 from Jeremy Larson, Tyler , Minn.

The March 2015 polled/scurred, homozygous black, 50 percent LimFlex is a son of TMCK Alfalfa 35X and out of 175X, a Focus Dam by Mytty In Focus.

For $6,000, Dave Salathe, Harrold, S.D., took ownership of Bar JZ Altantis 719C. The March 2015 heterozygous polled, homozygous black, 71 percent LimFlex is son of Bar JZ Atlantis 238A and out of 263X, a TR New Level daughter.

Bar JZ Westward 766C was another top seller at $5,750. The April 2015 homozygous polled, homozygous black, purebred son of AHCC Westwind W544 out of 327Y, a SYES 502P daughter sold to Casey & Kelsey Meyer, Carson, N.D.

Limousin and LimFlex Bred Heifers

Bar JZ Ursula 095B wound up on top at $3,750. The March 2014 double polled, double black, 75 percent LimFlex daughter of User Friendly went to Wulf Cattle, Morris, Minn.

Volume buyers were Steffen Brothers; Derek McCloud; Casey and Kelsey Meyer; and Earl and Jodi Parsons.
