85 yearling and long aged bulls – $4,397

It was a great day for folks to gather out at Fuoss Angus Ranch to look over the quality offering of Angus bulls presented by owners, Dave and Kathy Fuoss, and their son, Mike. It was a good crowd, with many repeat buyers on hand.

This was the best set of bulls from top to bottom that the Fuoss family has ever offered for sale. The bulls had tremendous performance, length of body, and they were well grown, but still very good on their feet and legs. They had excellent numbers behind them for performance, calving ease, and growth.

Dave and Kathy Fuoss, along with their son, Mike, and his family, believe that their customers’ success is their success. They breed many females with AI, but have also put together a reputation set of herd bulls that roam the pastures at Fuoss Angus. These high performing bulls were readily snapped up by this enthusiastic crowd.

Top selling bull of the day was Lot 63, selling for $9,750 to Doug Perry from Vivian, South Dakota. He was a son of Varilek Traveler 062 1082 12, and out of a daughter of TC Aberdeen. Born at 75 pounds, he weaned at 789 pounds to ratio 113, and posted a yearling weight of 1,387 pounds to ratio 107. His EPDs were BW 1.9, WW 69, YW 128, and MILK 22. He had an IMF of 6.66 percent to ratio 119, along with a 40 cm. scrotal measurement.

Longtime repeat buyer, Dan Valburg, from White River, South Dakota, topped his selections with Lot 27 at $9,500. He was by Connealy Earnen 076E and out of a daughter of SAV Net Worth 4200. He weaned at 758 pounds, and had a yearling weight of 1,312 pounds, after gaining 3.46 pounds per day on test. His EPDs were BW 4.8, WW 60, YW 107, MILK 17, MARB 0.77, REA 0.40, and $B 144.57. He was a very deep-sided bull with a lot of mass. He had a 15.4 square inch rib eye with an IMF of 6.03 percent.

Brad Devries from Platte, South Dakota, selected Lot 53 as his first choice at $9,000. Here was a son of Varilek Traveler 062 1082 12 that was out of a daughter of SAV 8180 Traveler 004. With a 92 pound birth weight, he weaned at 773 pounds to ratio 111, and posted a yearling weight of 1477 pounds to ratio 114. He gained 4.4 pounds per day on test, and had EPDs of BW 4.6, WW 66, YW 122, MILK 21, and $B 178.71. His scrotal measured 41 cm.

Lot 84 sold for $8,500 to Dan Valburg. This son of MogckSure Shot 260 was out of a daughter of SAV Free Spirit. He weaned at 779 pounds to ratio 112, and had EPDs of BW 1.9, WW 58, YW 103, and MILK 24. This package was completed with a 14.6 square inch ribeye, an IMF of 5.12 percent, and a 40 cm. scrotal measurement.

Brad Devries bought Lot 61 at $8,250, a bull sired by Varilek Traveler 062, and out of a daughter of Boyd New Day 8005. Born at 92 pounds, he weaned at 761 pounds, and grew to a yearling weight of 1,516 pounds. With a 14.2 square inch ribeye, he had an IMF of 5.45 percent, and a 44 cm. scrotal measurement. His $Beef score was $168.96.

It was another good sale for the Fuoss family, and there was great roast sirloin and ribs after the sale. The welcome mat is always out, and friends and customers are always invited to stop by throughout the year to look at their cow herd, and see how the bull calves are progressing. Fuoss Angus Ranch is north of Draper and south of Ft. Pierre.
