It was a fine day for a bull sale in Lemmon for the Gumbo Hill Ranch 12th Annual Production Sale. What a pleasure it was to represent a set of bulls that were as thick, long, and deep as anything I’ve seen all year. The bulls in the offering were developed on free choice long-stem grass hay, and bunk-fed a well-balanced bull ration. The soundness, fertility, and longevity are things not taken lightly while the bulls are developed and they reflect that in every step they take. Gumbo Hill bulls are capable of increasing weight in feeder cattle as well as making good replacement heifers. The only thing nicer than the bulls was the family that raised them. Congratulations to the Mollman family on a successful sale. Here is the top end of the program:
Shawn Hintz of McLaughlin, SD bought Lot 631, Gumbo hill 631, for $8,000. This SAV Resource 1441 son was a popular prospect with EPDs of BW 3.5, WW 72, YW 135, and Milk 31. He was born 3/20/15 at 89lbs and was 826lbs at weaning. Wow.
Lot 011, Gumbo Hill 011, sold for $8,000 to Larry Jung of Isabel, SD. A LT Wagonmaster 1079(SS) son with EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 50, YW 91, and Milk of 24. He was 84lbs at birth on 3/30/15 and 734lbs at weaning.
Lot 843, Gumbo Hill 843, sold for $7,000 to Austin Bailey of Watauga, SD. He’s an SAV Resource 1441 son born at 94lbs and tipped the scale to 676lbs at weaning. His EPDs include BW 3.5, WW 72, YW 135, and Milk 31.
Bob Mollman of Watauga bought Lot 625, Gumbo Hill 625, for $7,000. Sired by the Resource bull he reported EPDs of BW 3.5, WW 72, YW 135, and Milk 31. He was born 3/20/15 at 95lbs and was a whopping 844lbs at weaning.
Bob Mollman of Watauga, SD also purchased Lot 220, Gumbo Hill 220, for $6,000. Sired by MAR Innovation Integrity 8663(SS), this bull was 86lbs at birth on 4/3/15 and 794lbs at weaning. His EPDs include BW 2.2, WW 65, YW 104, and Milk 22.
