Gordon Jamison and family held their annual Total Performance Spring Production Sale at the ranch just south of Quinter, Kansas, on Feb. 27.

I thought going south it would get warmer, but even in north central Kansas, this was a two-pen day. Meaning, you look at two pens of bulls, then come in to warm up with a cup of coffee before heading back out to search through another few pens. But the effort was well worth it as this is a great set of powerful Hereford bulls. These bulls are big, rugged and stout with excellent bone structure and substance.

Maternal traits are a number one priority at Jamison Herefords. They also stress calving ease, fleshing ability, structural soundness and growth. These bulls were all of that and were readily accepted by the large crowd on hand for the sale with bulls selling into 14 states. One bit of information Jamison Herefords lists in their sale catalog is the eye pigmentation percentage. This is a percentage of eye pigmentation noted on every bull and was really appreciated by the buyers.

Topping the sale was lot 65, JA L1 Domino 4739B, Feb. 2014 son of CL1 Domino 860U with epds of BW 3.5 WW 66 YW 111 Milk 30 M&G 62. This bull had an actual weaning weight, of 870 pounds, weaning ratio of 114 and REA if 117. Jamison Ranch, Beggs, Oklahoma, Chad Pond, Troup, Texas, Climbin’ Tree Ranch, Westcliffe, Colorado, and Double SS Herefords, Tulsa, Oklahoma, teamed up to own the bull with a final bid of $27,000 (3/4 interest).
