106 Ylg hybrid bulls – $7,420

Faith Livestock Commission Co. was the place to be for the Lensegrav annual bull sale. Another big crowd had gathered on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in mid-March to spend time previewing and getting close to these good bulls. Dave and Rhonda Lensegrav have consistently bred cattle out on their ranch near Meadow, South Dakota, for the commercial man that will add thickness and performance to any set of calves.

This offering of bulls was very uniform, from start to finish, and the sale stayed very strong, with every bull finding a new home. This proved to be the best sale ever for this long standing ranch. Several of the ranchers bought multiple bulls, and this made for a fast-paced sale!

The top third of this sale was as stout as I’ve seen anywhere this sale season.

The Lensegrav Ranch offers a first year breeding guarantee and the bulls are kept for free for 30 days. Other perks are the free delivery and the customer bonus for new and old customers.

Top selling bull of the day was Lot 36, selling for $15,500 to Shane Dolezal, Dunn Center, North Dakota. He was a son of the home-raised bull, 24-Len 129Z, and out of a dam by Newsline. Born at 92 pounds, he weaned at 840 pounds and attained a yearling weight of 1,527 pounds. His scrotal measurement was 37.9 cm. He was a black bull that was 3/4 Angus and 1/4 Gelbvieh.

Lone Oak Cattle from Iowa bought Lot 39 at $14,500. Here was a son of 24-Len 129Z who was out of a dam by Kelly Roych. This homo black bull, 3/4 Angus and 1/4 Gelbvieh, was very gentle. With an 80 pound birth weight, he weaned at 710 pounds and reached a yearling weight of 1503 pounds.

Lyle Steinmetz, Carson, North Dakota, bought Lot 76 at $13,500. He was a son of LT In Reach, going back to VRD on the cowside. He was homozygous black and was 7/8 Angus and 1/8 Gelbvieh. Born at 84 pounds, he weaned at 774 pounds and had an incredible yearling weight of 1,607 pounds.

Repeat buyer, Jerry Hampshire, Clearmont, Wyo., chose Lot 17 at $13,000. Sired by 31-195Y, he was out of a cow with genetics by LEN 167U–Poncho–Stubby Con – VRD. With a birth weight of 95 pounds, he weaned at 811 pounds and had a yearling weight of 1491 pounds. His scrotal measurement was 41.3 cm.
