Marcy Cattle Company, owned by Tom and George Marcy, hosted a big crowd that was packed to the rafters at Gordon Livestock Auction. It was a beautiful day, and Gordon Livestock does an excellent job of displaying the cattle, allowing easy access to the potential buyers. There were both yearlings and two-year-olds in the offering.
Marcy’s have built a reputation for Angus cattle that are deep ribbed, fertile, and easy fleshing – plus they demonstrate extraordinary feedlot performance. You will find that these cattle perform in the feedlot, giving a carcass that will demand a premium.
Their first priority, however, is the Angus female. Marcy’s select for easy fleshing cows that are deep ribbed, with excellent udders that raise big calves. This is done with no creep feed, so that the cow proves herself on her own.
Marcy’s always provide a first class pre-sale dinner that remains very high on my list!
The top selling bull of the day was Lot 41, Marcys Cedar Ridge 536, a son of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge 1V, and out of a daughter of Baldridge Kaboom K243 who had ratioed 103 on five calves. He sold for $20,000 to Lisco Angus from Wyoming, with EPDs of BW 0.8, WW 52, MILK 25, YW 94, $W 48.11, and $B 109.49. This bull had a big rib eye, and weighed 1249 pounds at a year. This good yearling bull with an IMF% of 5.74, was an embryo transfer calf, and he led off the yearling portion of the sale.
The Lot 14 bull was a February two-year-old bull, selling for $13,000 to Dyer Ranch from Nebraska. This son of Lisco No Question 802, was out of a daughter of Marcys Scale Crusher. Born at 81 pounds, he weaned at 733 pounds. His mother had ratioed 109 on two calves. With a sale day weight of 1,835 pounds, he measured a 43 cm. scrotal. His 15.00 sq. in. rib eye complemented an IMF of 5.90 percent. His EPDs were BW 0.1, WW 58, MILK 26, and YW 101.
Forney Ranch from Nebraska chose Lot 62 at $13,000. Here was a son of Marcys Scale Crusher, and his mother was a daughter of Redland Emblazon 2021 who had ratioed 102 on four calves. He posted EPDs of BW 2, WW 55, MILK 28, and YW 101. He entered the world at 84 pounds, weaned at 667 pounds, and had a yearling weight of 1,261 pounds. The package for this yearling was completed with a 37.9 cm. scrotal measurement.
Lot 10 headed to South Dakota when the gavel fell at $12,500. His new home is Cain Ranch. This big 1,800 pound two-year-old bull was sired by Redland Emblazon 2021, and was out of a daughter of Sitz Upward 307R. His EPDs were BW 2.6, WW 51, MILK 23, and YW 91.
It was another big day for the Marcy families, with many repeat buyers on the seats to compete on this good set of bulls.
