179 yearling Angus bulls – $5,437
Wow what a day at the Wagon Box Ranch near Hardin, Montana, for the Pine Coulee Bulls LLC Bull Sale. Just missing out on the rain but catching all of the chilly wind was kind of a downer, but things really heated up ringside. I was truly impressed by this offering of bulls; the length, stretch, and volume was sure to catch even the dullest of eyes. They’re all sired by some of the breeds top sire lines with the aim of convenience, efficiency, and profit traits. Again these bulls were in excellent breeding condition with an athletic look that no cow will escape. I really do think these bulls are among some of the best and hats off to the Stampfel and Carrel families. Here’s the cream off the top:
• High seller: Lot 184, Pine Coulee Advance C360, stole the show selling to Larsen Ranch Angus of Forsyth, Montana for $17,000. He’s a Koupal Advance 28 son that put up great EPDs of BW -1.2, WW 63, YW 101, and Milk 25. He was born Jan. 17, 2015 at 67 pounds and was weaned at 719 pounds.
• Second high seller: Lot 94, Pine Coulee Resource 60C, was purchased by Murnion Cattle Co. of Miles City, Montana for $14,500. Out of the popular SAV Resource 1441 sire, he was born Jan. 26, 2015 at 98 pounds and weaned at 774 pounds. His EPDs include BW 4.1, WW 66, YW 117, and Milk 29.
• Also selling for $14,500 was Lot 95, Pine Coulee Resource C339, to Kim Entze of Golden Valley, North Dakota. Sired by the great Resource bull and posted EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 56, YW 109, and Milk 27. He was born Jan. 26, 2015 at 88 pounds and was 713 pounds at weaning.
Lot 82, Pine Coulee Resource C317, sold to winner-winner chicken dinner, Alan Shrewsdbury of Goodview, Virginia, for $14,000. He’s right out of the good Resource sired group and records EPDs of BW 1.5, WW 56, YW 100, and Milk 27. He was born Jan. 26, 2015 at 86 pounds and was 739 pounds at weaning.
