Sonstegard Cattle Co., LLC, hosted a big crowd on a chilly western Minnesota afternoon at the River Ranch. It was a great Red Angus female sale. Since this was my first trip to this farm, I would have to say I was very impressed with the cattle and especially with the disposition of these productive females.

I could see that this family has a great feeling for their customers, as their buyers bought this good set of females with confidence.

The top selling bred heifer was Lot 1, 3SCC Sierra B96, a Bieber Hard Drive Y120 daughter, bred to Forster Angus A036. She sold to Greg Slack, Slack Farms, in Harrisburg, South Dakota, for $12,250.

Lot 5, 3SCC HI RB LS B601, is a daughter of Koester Chivas 005, and bred to Andras Fusion R236. She sold to Dave Kemen, Kemen Farms Red Angus, in Madison, Minn., for $4,750.

Lot 7, 3SCC Rac B50, is a daughter of LSF Boxed Beef 9063W, and bred to Basin Hobo 0545. She sold to Gary and Linda Olsen of Brayton, Iowa, for $4,500.

Lot 3, 3SCC Tafra B343, is a daughter of VGW Navigator 010, and bred to KCC Pinnacle 949-109. She sold to Calvin and Nancy Schrock, Schrock Red Angus, in Bennet, Nebr., for $4,500.

Lot 71, 3SCC Ginger B333, is a daughter of 3SCC King of the North Z602, and bred to 3SCC Zeus Y124. She sold to Herb Barber, Barber Show Cattle, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, for $4,500.

The top selling Open Heifer was Lot 21, 3SCC Polly C107, a daughter of VGW Navigator 010. She sold to Recombinetics of St. Paul, Minn., for $5,250.

Lot 26A, 3SCC Linda C607, is a Paringa Iron Ore E27 daughter, selling to Jack Welle, Kenyon Cattle LLC, in Milford, Iowa, for $5,250.

The top selling Bred Cow was Lot 27, 3SCC Bonnie U58, an OHRR Dakota Copper 29K daughter, bred to VGW Navigator 010. She sold to Paul Fehrman of Lake Benton, Minn., for $6,500.

Lot 26, 3SCC Linda X622, was a Basin Hobo 0545 daughter, bred to Jacobson Mtn Man 4144. She sold to Chad Nittler of Medicine Lodge, Kans., for $6,250.

Lot O was the high selling set of five commercial Red Angus heifers. They were bred to Sonstegard calving ease bulls, and sold to Stuart Delene, S & L Beef Farm, in Watton, Mich., for $2,750.

Tony Benesh of Oregon, Ill., buying 20 head of commercial Red Angus bred heifers, was one of the volume buyers. Bergeland Stock Farm in Volga, South Dakota, purchased 13 head of bred purebred heifers.

Cattle sold into 10 different states and Canada.
