The Barstow Angus new sale facility was broke in on Mar. 9 when Neri and Patty Barstow & Family held their 24th Annual Rock Solid bull sale. The new sale barn served the purpose well, with the smartly designed pens that worked excellent to display the bulls. With the large seating area and raised sale ring, there is not a bad seat in the house. The barn is right off the highway, allowing easier access for the buyers to attend the sale.
Barstow Angus is where the great AI sire Barstow Cash was born and raised. The Cash sons were in excellent demand and the 24 bulls sired by him in the sale averaged $13,150.
Toping the sale was lot 16, Barstow Cash B76, a Feb. 2014 son of Barstow Cash that has epds of CED 12 BW -0.5 WW 61 YW 120 Milk 26 $B 110.89. This herd sire prospect combines calving ease, performance and carcass in a very eye-appealing package. Joseph Angus Ranch, Winner, SD teamed up with Accelerated Genetics, Baraboo, WI to own the bull at $51,000.
Lot 15, Barstow Cash B73, a Feb. 2014 son of Barstow Cash with epds of CED 9 BW 1.3 WW 66 YW 124 Milk 29 $B 110.41 sold to Select Sires, Plain City, OH; Hart Farm, Frederick, SD and Dave Dockter, Mandan, ND for $35,000.
Lee Cattle Co., Brush, CO got the next two Cash sons. Lot 3, Barstow Cash B15 born Feb. 2014 has epds of CED 10 BW 0.7 WW 59 YW 114 Milk 28 $B 107.76 and sold for $19,000. Selling at $17,500 was lot 17, Barstow Cash B82, born Feb. 2014 with epds of CED 12 BW .4 WW 56 YW 108 Milk 26 $B 100.13
Lot 10, Barstow Cash B24 sold to repeat buyer DeMers Ranch, Colome, SD for $15,500. This Feb. 2014 Cash son has epds of CED 7 BW 1.3 WW 65 YW 130 Milk 25 $B 122.25.
Galaxy Beef, Graham, MO purchased lot 34, Barstow Bullseye B6, a Jan. 2014 son of Mogck Bullseye for $13,500. This bull has epds of CED 6 BW 1.8 WW 73 YW 131 milk 30 and $B 109.29
Lot 1, Barstow Cash B126, a Mar. 2014 son of Barstow Cash with epds of CED 6 BW 1.0 WW 66 YW 124 Milk 27 $B 123.82 sold to Dean Welker, Kilgore, NE for $13,000.
This year Neri and Patty decided to pull 10 open heifers out of their replacement pen to offer at the sale as a special feature. The top selling heifer was lot 82, Barstow Queen B67, a Feb. 2014 daughter of Barstow Cash with epds of CED 11 BW .9 WW 61 YW 110 Milk 28. Nolan Poss, Scotia, NE was the buyer at $6250. F
