The Benda Ranch Annual Production Sale was held on February 8 at Kimball Livestock Exchange. It was a very windy day, but the skies were clear and a large crowd was on hand once again to actively bid on a top group of Simmental genetics. 82 percent of the cattle sold to repeat buyers.
Topping the sale were Lots 11 and 12 at $8,500 each. These are powerful purebred E.T. full brothers sired by KS Black Diamond, and out of the dam of JBS Big Casino.
Mike Carr, Triple C Ranch of Cassville, Missouri, purchased Lot 11, and Lot 12 was selected by Joe Koch, Stickney S.D.
Next in line was Lot 4, an attractive purebred son of Big Casino, selling for $8250 to Nathan Weiland, Dell Rapids S.D.
Lot 1 was the next high seller, another solid black purebred son of Big Casino, with a 123 WW ratio. He was chosen by Mike Carr, Cassville Missouri and sold for $8,000.
Rounding out the group of top sellers was Lot 16, a high growth 3/4 Simmental sired by TNT Tanker. He was selected by Tom Gorzalka, Clearmont Wyoming, for $7,500.
The top selling bred heifer was Lot 60, a purebred blaze-face daughter of Big Casino, selling to John Hansen, Gregory SD, for $6,250.
Volume buyers were Mike Carr, Triple C Ranch of Cassville Missouri; Tom Gorzalka & Sons of Clearmont Wyoming; and Nepodal Land & Cattle of Platte S.D.
