Average: 104 yearling and fall Angus bulls –$5,793
This has been a good year through and through from beginning to end. This sale was no different, even late in the season. It really was a nice day in Miles City, Montana, at Miles City Livestock, but the thing that stuck out to me the most was the ripping set of bulls waiting for assessment in the back pens. Not only were they of good kind but also, all the high selling bulls had different sires. That confidence in a cowherd gives any customer a loaded weapon when turning these bulls out. They were in excellent shape and had a classy Angus look. With a big hip, deep rib, and wide back I think all customers top to bottom are going to be satisfied. Topping the sale at $9,000 was Lot 56, CCAR Sirloin B313. This Vermilion Sirloin son, purchased by Bar 7 Cattle Company of Lindsay, Montana, posted EPDs of BW 2.5, WW 66, YW 112, and Milk 23. He was born March 20, 2014, weighing 84 pounds and has and ADJ 205 of 800 pounds.
Tying up for second was Lot 10, CCAR 0192 Rito 3254, for $8,000. This CCAR Rito 0192 son was 80 pounds at birth on Oct. 15, 2013, and put up a 558 pounds score for ADJ 205. He was purchased by Steve Wyse of Manhattan, Montana, and has EPDs of BW 2.8, WW 52, YW 96, and Milk 22.
Also hitting the $8,000 mark was Lot 94, CCAR Comanchero B256. This EXAR Comanchero 1022B son is heading to Powdersville, MT with the Maxwell Butte Ranch. His EPDs include BW -0.5, WW 52, YW 97, and Milk 30 while he was born March 14, 2014, weighing 64 pounds and posts an ADJ 205 of 725 pounds.
Maxwell Butte Ranch also took home Lot 102, CCAR 9180 Roundup B602, for $7,750. This is a CCAR Roundup 9180 son with EPDs of BW 1.1, WW 52, YW 88, and Milk 25. He was born March 18, 2014, weighing 79 pounds and an ADJ 205 of 683 pounds.
Jacko Valley Cattle Company of Volborg, Montana, won the bid on Lot 72, CCAR Z605 G Opportunity B403, for $7,750. This is a CCAR Golden Opportunity Z605 son with EPDs of BW -0.6, WW 51, YW 83, and Milk 28. He was born April 8, 2014, at 66 pounds and has a whale of an ADJ 205 of 811 pounds.
